If you love food, beer, bands, and community, you need to know about Cultivate.
Cultivate is a festival of food and drink that takes place every September in Port Hope, Ontario. If you’re a fan of local eats, craft brews, and live music, this award-winning, family-friendly festival is going to be right up your alley.
This year, we were invited to attend and since I can’t begin tell you the BEST thing about Cultivate, I’m going to tell you 3 memories I’m taking with me — already eager for next year’s event!
No. 1: A hefty helping of butter chicken nachos.
Being a food and drink festival, you know you’re going to get some top notch eats, and if you’re from the area you might spot a few familiar faces, as well as some new finds that you haven’t yet had the chance to discover.
I definitely fell in love with a place called Guapo’s Cantina who make the BEST tortilla chips I’ve ever tasted.
But it would be cruel of me to not let you in on the secret that is butter chicken nachos from a place called The Pastry Peddler.
This is a place I’ve gone to numerous times, but if you’ve never heard of it, you need to make the trip to Millbrook, Ontario for their butter chicken nachos.
Now, if you’re thinking that sounds really weird, you’re right — but it’s also one of my favourite foods in the entire world. No exaggerating. It’s on my Top 10 list for sure.
We also had cotton candy and brisket and tacos… oh my.
No. 2: Being spoiled for choice with locally brewed goodness.
The drink part of a food and drink festival is just as important, my friends.
And at Cultivate, the event is family-friendly, but unlike some events that stick you in a “beer tent”, at Cultivate, you get an age of majority bracelet and you’re free to enjoy your beverages in your Cultivate stein, wherever you like.
Music, food, drinks — make it happen.
